Dawn grew up in Pennsylvania where she attended a local Christian school. After graduation, she pursued a nursing degree, attending Pensacola Christian College and a local community college. During this time, Dr. Bob Gray II was a guest preacher at her church. He challenged her to pray about full-time Christian service. That summer as a chaperone at a youth conference in Hammond, IN, she fully surrendered to whatever the Lord had for her.
She graduated from Hyles-Anderson College in the spring of 2011. Pastor Shook offered her a teaching position at Bailey’s Grove Baptist School the same week of her college graduation. She has been an elementary teacher there since 2011. Dawn has been faithfully serving as a teen Sunday School teacher, the nursery director, and other ministries of the church for the past several years.
